Sunday Artisan Market Still Up & Running!

Barton Marina’s popular Last Sunday in the Month Market has two more events left this season when you can browse through the enormous display of crafts and products on display.
The next is on Sunday, 29th October and the last on Sunday, 26th November – the well-loved Christmas Market when new and old stall holders will be offering loads of suitable seasonal gifts.
The bustling shopping event in the heart of Barton Marina’s picturesque canal community attracts thousands of visitors every year and runs from10am to 4pm.
A treasure trove of handmade gifts, clothes, jewellery and food are on show, giving the region’s independent suppliers a fantastic opportunity to build their businesses.
The Waterfront serves breakfast from 10am to noon, followed by a full menu until 8pm, including pizzas and roasts.
And all the other shops and restaurants along the promenade are open – a great place to spend a few hours.

Exciting times at the Waterfront

If you have paid us a visit recently you will have noticed that the terrace is undergoing a transformation.

This is the start of refurbishment works which will be beginning in earnest in the New Year (more to follow)!

At the moment the old stone terrace is being replaced by a brand new decking area and the workmen are already busy levelling the area in readiness for the new flooring.

We are trying to avoid causing any disruption to our visitors but please bear with us as I am sure you will love the new look!

A life saver

aedsignMarina Pub well prepared for emergencies with new defibrillator

Staffordshire’s landmark food and music venue is the latest pub in the county to install a heart defibrillator for the safety of its customers.

The Automated External Defibrillator (AED), which is used to treat people suffering from sudden cardiac arrest, has been installed in the foyer of the pub at Barton Marina.

It has been purchased by the Derby Tri Club on the recommendation of a committee member who is a consultant in Royal Derby Hospital’s A and E department but will be available to the wider community in the event of an emergency.

AEDs are designed to be used by members of the public and contain instructions which guide the operator through the process. They are both safe and easy to use.

“It’s a life saving piece of equipment and you just never know when it might be needed,” said Megan, General Manager.

“The Waterfront is very popular with hikers and runners because of majestic canal setting and it’s good to be prepared.”

“We take the safety of our customers extremely seriously and evidence has shown elsewhere in the country how valuable a life-saving tool a defibrillator can be in the event of a heart attack.”

The Waterfront is a versatile entertainment venue, catering for every occasion. It prides itself on offering good food which can be enjoyed in the restaurant, bar and lounge area and on the terrace overlooking the idyllic 300-berth marina, while the 50 seat contemporary conservatory, known as the Quarterdeck, is popular with diners and for private parties.

Food is cooked fresh to order with daily specials featuring fresh fish from the market. There are also competitively priced wedding packages suiting every budget.
