Artisan Market offers something old and something new

One of Staffordshire’s best-loved monthly craft bazaars will be unveiling its first “in-house” antiques market at the end of the month for a truly vintage shopping experience.

Barton Marina will be hosting Northamptonshire-based Antiques2Go at its popular Artisan Market from Sunday 30 April (10am to 4pm) which promises to draw collectors, traders and buyers from across Staffordshire and beyond.

Antiques2Go is an expert in the management of antiques events and already holds established auctions at Bugbrooke and Moreton Pinkney in Northamptonshire as well as antiques and collectors’ fairs at Lamport Hall in Northampton.

The family-run business, managed by a team of experienced antique dealers, will present a treasure chest of goods and collectables at the marina’s Sunday Artisan Market and is the latest in a series of successful independent businesses to sign up to the expanding event.

It comes as The Waterfront – Barton Marina’s premier restaurant and entertainment venue – launches a new breakfast menu providing every excuse to enjoy a morning out at the market.

With mouth-watering old favourites such as Eggs Benedict, American Pancakes and Full English – plus a glass of champagne or prosecco to wash it down – it’ll be hard to say no.

A spokesperson for Barton Marina said: “I’m really pleased to welcome Antiques2Go to our Sunday Artisan Market which will expand the scope of this event and appeal to the many collectors and buyers who live in this region.

“The marina is becoming a popular visitor attraction and it’s important to us to continually look at new ways to enhance the shopping experience with new traders and a wealth of eating and drinking options, including a wonderful, canal side breakfast.

“With just a week to go until the 2017 season gets underway, we’re busying finalising our exhibitor list and hope to be announcing more exciting traders in the near future.”

A host of diverse, talented producers will be showcasing their high-quality goods at the monthly events, which take place on the last Sunday of every month from April through to November. Among those will be Ranfire Designs (unique and patterned jewellery), Truly Creative Designs (giftware), Noon Bags (cotton/canvas bags), Pretty Swish (ladies accessories), Spice Fever (samosas) and Jem (Italian clothing).

The Market, run by events management company Sketts, is one of the highlights of Barton Marina’s events calendar and attracts visitors from far and wide.

Set against the backdrop of one of Staffordshire’s best-loved landmarks, it’s an ideal day out or shopping trip for those looking for something they can’t buy on the high street.
